It looks like those shoes from the “Back to the Future” trilogy will soon be a reality and we are very excited about it. Recently Nike has files patent documents for shoes which can tie their own laces.

The patent applications reads;
“The automatic lacing system provides a set of straps that can be automatically opened and closed to switch between a loosened and tightened position of the upper. The article further includes an automatic ankle cinching system that is configured to automatically adjust an ankle portion of the upper.”
So, it looks like you will be using a switch to tighten or loosen a series straps to make these shoes comfortable. They be supported by a battery-powered motor and they can be charged either via USB or a micro-USB.
However, there is no information on when such shoes will be available in the market, but it looks like a possibility and as a patent has been filed it is very obvious that they would make an appearance in the near future.
